 Villa Kubu Dewi Sri is hidden away in a traditional village, five minutes drive from the beach on Bali's south-western coast. This delightful 5-bedroom property, complete with 16 x 4 metre swimming pool and guest villa, is bordered by terraced rice fields. Constructed of local materials, the single-storey villa is characterised by soaring ironwood shingle roofs, fresh cream walls and chocolate brown ironwood pillars and doors. A varied choice of living and dining locations, positioned around a spacious garden, makes the villa an ideal venue for weddings and parties. Each room is equipped with a satellite TV and DVD player, and the self contained private guest villa boasts its own plunge pool. A homely atmosphere is created with the tasteful application of local artwork, together with elegant furnishings that have been lovingly chosen by the owners. There is also an office equipped with a fax machine and Broadband Internet access.
Bounded by emerald rice fields, the peaceful vista is enhanced on clear days by the magical sight of the mountains in the early mornings and evenings. Yet, the trendy Seminyak area, with its wide choice of international restaurants - including the famous 'KuDéTa', 'Warisan', 'Living Room', 'Hu'u' and 'La Lucciola' - together with a plethora of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques, is a mere fifteen minutes' drive away. The nearby sweeping beach is renowned for its panoramic coastline views and legendary sunsets; it has some world-class surf breaks but the currents are strong and it can be dangerous for swimming. Guests at Villa Kubu Dewi Sri will be eligible for complimentary membership of The Canggu Club for the duration of their stay. Located just around the corner from the villa, this is Bali's first and only international private members' club; offering sports, social and leisure facilities, including a state-of-the art gym, a 25-metre swimming pool and a tennis & squash centre. For horse lovers, the Umalas Equestrian Centre is just a few kilometres away, and Nirwana Golf Course - designed by Greg Norman and renowned as one of the best golf courses in Asia - is a twenty minute drive. The villa is thirty minutes' from the international airport, and convenient for all of the island's main shopping malls and tourist attractions, including Tanah Lot, the island's most dramatic and venerated sea temple.
Villa Kubu Dewi Sri was named after the Hindu goddess of rice, and when you first enter the villa you will understand why. The far end of the garden is bordered by a 16 x 4-metre swimming pool, which appears to overflow into an amphitheatre of gently swaying rice. When the rice has first been planted, the pool merges with the mirror-like watery surfaces of the terrace.
Villa II:
Villa II is accessed from the car park. A welcome statue of Ganesha greets guests as they enter this self contained guest villa, which is built around a small courtyard complete with kitchenette and a 2 x 4-metre plunge pool lined with green Java stone. The open plan kitchenette is equipped with fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and toaster, together with a sink and fitted cupboards. The two bedrooms rest beside the pool, each is accessed by a sliding glass door. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, wardrobes and storage space. There is also a satellite TV and DVD player, and a safe deposit box. The two bedrooms are linked by an adjoining bathroom, complete with a powerful rainshower, toilet and twin washbasins.
