Padang Padang beach is one of the many world-class waves located in Bali, Indonesia. This popular surf spot attracts thousands of surfers and tourists every year. It is a high profile spot where surfers get photographed in gigantic barrels. Surfers love to go to this spot to be challenged and to score perfect hollow waves. Padang Padang beach is said to be comparable to the famous wave called Pipeline in Oahu, Hawaii. It is the most dangerous wave in Bali and breaks on a shelf of reef, coral, and sharp rocks. This surf spot is a very technical wave and should be ridden or surfed by only professional and expert surfers. There is also a strong rip tide and undertow that occurs at this spot when the waves are huge. Many surfers have wiped out and got seriously injured while surfing here. This spot can be very crowded and can have more than 40-50 surfers out in the water at the same time. Surfers really need to be aware of their surroundings and also be selective with what wave they catch when surfing here. Taking off at the wrong spot or dropping in on someone, can really become dangerous and also lethal when surfing a wave like Padang Padang.

The best time to surf Padang Padang is when it gets a big swell over 6 feet. Surfers say the real Padang Padang only breaks when it gets this big. It starts to really get out of control when the waves get over 12 feet. The take off zone when it’s this huge is right in front of the big rock.

The surf frequency of this spot is very consistent during the months of June, July, and August. It also works well on all tides. The direction that this wave breaks is a left-hander, and can be ridden from 50-150 meters on a normal day and 150- 300 meters on a really good day. The best swell direction for Padang Padang to work perfect is a South West or a South direction.

Padang Padang not only attracts surfers to this spot, but also many spectators who want to get entertained by watching surfers get shacked on a perfect hallow wave. It is a pretty amazing site to see and to also feel the energy that this place has to offer. Tourists also love to sunbathe here and enjoy the beautiful white sandy beach. Padang Padang is a must see stop for people visiting the island of Bali.

Purah Goa Lawah is a famous tourist attraction for many and also a place of religious significance for the local Balinese people. Purah Goa Lawah is also known as the Bat Cave Temple. It is a historic sacred site that was constructed back in the 11th century. The Holy Sage from Java, Mpu Kuturan, founded this temple in 1007. The Temple of Goa Lawah is located on the coast near the popular town of Candidasa. It is also 9 kilometers from Klungkung on the east side of Bali and only 3 kilometers northeast of the Kusamba Harbor. This temple starts from the rocky cliffs of Candidasa, all the way up to the bottom of Mount Agung. It is a beautiful place that offers amazing views of the ocean. The island of Nusa Penida can also be seen from this historic site. The Bat Cave Temple is very large and connects to another sacred temple named Pura Besakih. The cave extends up to 30 kilometers in length.

There are only 6 sacred state temples in Bali called Sad Kahyagan, and Purah Goa Lawah is one of them. The other 5 state temples on the island are Pura Besakih, Pura Uluwatu, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, Pura Batukau, and Pura Pulaki. The Balinese people believe that these state temples are important sites because they give protection to the whole island of Bali.

The Balinese people believe that Pura Goa Lawah is is the most significant temple when it comes to life after death. Thousands of people come together during ceremonial days and events to pay respects to the gods. They give out special offerings and cast out gifts into the ocean.

It was once said that the Prince of Mengwi entered the bat cave to make everyone believe that he was a descendent of the Mengwi King, and ended up at the Pura Besakih Temple. This popular temple is visited daily by hundreds of tourists and Balinese locals and is known to house a plethora of fruit bats. It is a real amazing site to see these creatures chaotically flying around, uniformly hanging upside down, and also listening to their squealing sounds. The Balinese believe that Purah Goa Lawah is also a home for a huge dragon named Naga Basuki and feeds on the fruit bats in the cave. They believe that this dragon controls the earth’s equilibrium. It’s very simple, growing crops in healthy soils results in healthy nutrients in crops that we eat. Today, farmers use synthetic pesticides and fertilizers in their crops, which are not good for the soil and plants. It takes away all the good healthy nutrients from the crops that our bodies need. Studies have shown that vegetables, fruits, and grains that are grown organically offer more nutrients such as iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and vitamin c. More and more people are becoming health conscious and more aware of the benefits of going organic.

This restaurant is special because it serves only organic foods. Organic meals in Warung Bodag Malith only uses fresh crops from it’s own farm, which gives out a more rich flavor to each dish. This is a restaurant that is very open and has an amazing view of the organic rice fields. They serve a wide variety of delicious organic dishes with a touch of Middle Eastern influences from Odet’s Israeli roots. They also have a large array of guilt-free salads and spreads.

Sari Organic was first built in 2003 on a piece of land that was only 5 ares. This land was donated as a project for them to build and organic farm. Now, Sari Organic farm has grown to 45 ares. They are very successful and want to educate the local farmers and people of Bali about the benefits of going organic. Sari Organic has already planted more types of indigenous Balinese rice and recruited 6 other farmers to do the same. Sari Organic is doing so well that they can support 20 local Balinese families.
